I am a licensed Counsellor under the Ontario Association of Counsellors, Consultants, Psychologists and Psychotherapists. Not only do I use what I’ve learned through various degrees over the years I also believe that when you encounter the love and presence of Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit you are set free. Jesus meant what he said when he told us…
“You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”
Counselling is my passion – it is what I absolutely love to do. One of my hobbies is gardening and when dandelion season comes around, I don’t chop the dandelions off at the top I go for the roots. This is the same for my counselling practice, I go for the root of the issue.
In 1958, as a teenager, I gave my life to the Lord at age 14 while attending a Baptist Church and Inter-school Christian Fellowship in Lanark County. I dreamed of being a missionary and going to live in a foreign country. Instead, I ended up getting married to a veterinary student, helping him in his practice with large and small animals and having four children. When my fourth child was a baby, I began to think about what I would do when my children were all in school. I took an aptitude test to determine my destiny thoroughly believing I would be a social worker only to be told that Social Work was sixth on the list and housewife/mother was at the top with the second being ministry. Wow! What a surprise! At that point in my life, I had very little, if any experience as an ordained woman in the pulpit, so after completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree, I pursued Chaplaincy and followed that with a specialization with the elderly.
Only then was I able to hear a call to ordained ministry. After completing a Master of Divinity Degree, in 1998, I became an ordained minister with the United Church of Canada. In 2003 I began to have suffer from Glaucoma and stepped away from work on a disability leave lasting for 3 years. I received major healing following that diagnosis and decided to go back to St.Paul’s University in 2006 where I began my doctoral degree in Christian Counseling. I completed my studies at Christian Leadership University under Dr. Mark Virkler in 2011.
